La Paz is the capital of the state of Baja California Sur (BCS) a city of around 300,000 known for its seafront Malecon with beaches, parks and art by Mexican and international artists. We had been in La Paz twice before but we decided to take the shuttle into town from the cruise terminal – a drive of around 20 minutes. Previously the shuttle was provided at no charge to the ship’s passengers – now they charge $10 US per person ☹. We strolled along the Malecon with it’s many statues and Christmas decorations and ended up at our usual bar with the Pink Elephant. After an hour watching the passersby we returned to the ship.
