December 2025 – Cruise, Weather, and Holiday Season – Cabo San Lucas

Cabo San Lucas:

We aren’t big fans of Cabo – it’s too crowded and busy and the vendors tend to be pushy and noisy – so we had picked an excursion to go to Todos Santos, about 100km (62 miles) up the coast. We anchored in the bay and took a tender to the port and walked about 10 minutes up to our excursion bus. Throughout the drive the tour guide informed us of the history of Los Cabos (name of the area comprising Cabo San Lucas and San Juan de Cabo) and Todos Santos. Todos Santos was initially founded as a Mission in 1724. Later, it became a major sugar-cane producer. Over the past 40 years it has become a major tourist attraction due to the many artists, musicians, and crafts people that have set up studios and workshops there, the many ecological tours and activities that are available, and the many historical buildings that can be visited. Todos Santos is one of the fastest growing areas in Mexico.

We arrived in Todos Santos and drove through the downtown area’s cobble stone streets. We exited the bus and toured through the old cultural centre and museum that depicted how Todos Santos developed through the years. Kelly and I walked through the streets checking out the stores and craft centres before arriving at Hotel California for our luncheon. Hotel California is not actually the ‘Hotel California’ of the Eagles fame – the Eagles actually sued the owners over the name but the Hotel had been around for many years before the album was released. And we were among the last visitors to visit inside the building – it’s being turned into condominiums this January and will be closed to the public, however the souvenir store will still be available. We explored the town some more – it is a very pretty town – before driving back along the coast to return to Cabo San Lucas and the ship. We did see many whales along our trip back.
