St. Thomas is the most populated island in the US Virgin Islands and the most visited. Here you will find crystal-clear waters, lush greenery, incredible views, picturesque beaches, and vibrant villages. The stunning little island located in the West Indies is truly a paradise.
Konigsdam docked at Havensight, one of the two main docking locations for cruise ships – the other being Crown Bay. At Havensight there are several warehouses with many stores, bars, and restaurants. Our main goal for the day was just to find a nice beach that wasn’t too crowded and noisy. We found a taxi to take us to Emerald Beach over by the airport for $10 a person for about a 40 minute drive that took us along the waterfront and through the main town of Charlotte Amelie. It was a pleasant drive but very heavy traffic going through the town. The taxi dropped us off at Emerald Beach Resort where we were able to rent chairs and an umbrella for about $25. It was a fairly nice resort … small, but with a decent restaurant and pool and well kept grounds. The beach was about a mile long and had a couple of other small hotels along it and was bordered by some high hills. The water was turquoise, the sun hot, and the beer nice and cold (do you see a trend happening here 😊). Another enjoyable afternoon and when we arrived back at the cruise terminal we went across the street to visit a bar that we had been to before – The Doghouse 😊. After a couple of drinks we strolled through the stores at the dock before returning back to the ship.
