The ‘stay at home’ lockdown is set to be over later this week – on Thursday – and it looks like they (the Ontario government) will probably be lifting some restrictions soon. Elementary school students started going back to class last week … kind of stupid logic, send your kids to school but you’re not supposed to leave your house yourself Except for a couple of regions they will probably start reopening some businesses, dine in dining at restaurants, table service at strip clubs, etc. So the numbers are still a lot higher than when they ended lock down last May, we don’t have any new shipments of vaccine for a couple more weeks … but let’s just reopen because people are tired of staying inside?? Stand by for a big increase in positive cases in about two / three more weeks In my mind they should have stayed in lock down until the middle of March. (New Update: Most of Ontario to stay in 'stay at home' lockdown until Feb 16th - Toronto to at least 22nd February). Canada announced last week that they are stopping all flights to Mexico and the Caribbean until the end of April – then they announced that the cruise ship ban from Canadian ports is going to be extended until March … 2022!!. We won’t be going anywhere soon Biden seems to be doing well in the U.S. – or I imagine he is, we don’t get inundated (always wanted to use that work) with daily twitterings (a new word I just invented, feel free to use it) from a manic-depressive despot, uh – I mean the former president known as Trump . The world seems a quieter, gentler place now (except for Myanmar – our sympathies go out to the people there ). Good news about the weather around here – hardly any snow!! – the bad news, pretty darn cold (averaging about -11 C daytime, -22 C at night) - but, you know, you get used to it pretty quick and it doesn’t feel that bad – when I was growing up in Quebec we called –20C … Spring!! Okay, on to food … still doing old standards - Chicken Parmesan, Roast Duck - and leftovers … But, experimenting with the new air fryer – did some Shrimp and Fries the other day – 24 minutes for the fries, 8 minutes for the shrimp – and man, were they good!! I’ll be doing some other stuff soon – empanadas, egg rolls, fried chicken, etc. and I’ll be putting up some air fryer recipes. The new Vitamix 7500 (2.2HP!! ) is supposed to be arriving later today – that’s going to be a lot of fun (and calories) Kelly and I finished ‘Flack’ on Prime – it wasn’t bad but could have been done smoother – it’s kind of scary seeing what publicists will do for their clients. Speaking of which – I started binge watching ‘Call My Agent’, a French dramedy series about – publicists!! It’s exceptionally good – and very funny – and is about a French movie star agency whose agents will do almost anything to keep their clients. And here’s the kicker … every episode (4 seasons, 6 episodes each) has at least one real life movie star playing themselves – and not always to their best advantage. It’s pretty hilarious and was a gigantic hit in France when it first came out in 2018. I’m about halfway through now – not sure what I’ll watch when it’s over. Kelly and I started watching ‘Longmire’ on Netflix – modern day police western set in Wyoming (but filmed almost entirely in New Mexico) – 6 seasons, 63 episodes. It’s actually pretty good and should keep us busy for a while The Phoenix Waste Management Open was on this past weekend – two Canadians made the cut – Corey Connors (17th – $104 K U.S.) and Adam Hadwin (50th - $18K U.S.). So the Super Bowl finally arrived – and everybody (except me) expected Mahomes and Kansas to win – and boy, were they wrong!! Tom Brady and the Bucs’ blew out Kansas – actually Kansas basically imploded, all the stupid penalties that they took!! It was nice to see Tampa Bay win at home (first time ever in the modern NFL era) and – here’s a great statistic – Pittsburgh and New England are tied for having the most Super Bowl wins at six each; Tom Brady now has seven wins by himself!! So – only seven more months until NFL starts again!! Have a great and safe week … we will see you in a bit!!
