I’m a little late this week … I’m back to work after taking the last two weeks off - it’s amazing how work gets in the way of doing what I really like; cooking and updating this blog I love travelling too – and that’s what we usually do with our vacation time; a two-week cruise and two weeks at a resort down south. But staying home this time (because of Covid-19 putting a crimp in everyone’s travel plans) actually wasn’t too bad. Thanks to Netflix’s streaming more international series lately I was able to travel to: Southern Spain – ‘Costa Del Sol’; Northern Spain – Galicia for ‘Cocaine Coast’; Columbia – Bogota and Medellin for ‘Pablo Escobar’ and ‘The Great Heist’ – Leticia in the Amazon jungle for ‘Green Frontier’; Christmas shows in Norway – ‘Home For Christmas’ (Season 2 starts this Friday!! ) – and Germany for ‘Over Christmas’; and probably other shows that I can’t remember but I got to see many places that I’ve been too And I got to practice my Spanish, Norwegian, and German – almost like being on a cruise but no ordering drinks at the Martini Bar in Indonesian This week I started watching ‘The Mess You Leave Behind’ – a Spanish murder / psychological thriller filmed in Galicia (again – I think 80 % of series in Spain are filmed there ). I didn’t like the first episode and almost didn’t continue watching – but I gave it a second chance and now I’m hooked, too bad it’s a ‘limited series’ with only 8 episodes, so no Season 2. Kelly and I started watching ‘Transparent (Kelly has been after me for a year to watch it) and we have finished Season 1 – only 4 more seasons and 40 episodes. Not my type of show, but it’s not too bad. HFC starts in two days, and Season 2 of ‘Monarca’ starts in three weeks. And cooking … lots of cooking!! Apart from the Mexican leftovers of Beef Birria, White Bean Chicken Enchiladas, Pork in Tomatillo Sauce, etc.; we finally had the sauerbraten, made BBQ’d chicken drumsticks with Caesar salad, Tagliatelle and Meat Sauce from scratch, meat loaf, Chicken Cordon Bleau, and many more dishes. I’ve marinated my beef for seven days so we will probably have Sauerbraten with potato dumplings or pancakes. I didn’t watch any golf this past week – it was some weird shootout first created by Greg Norman 20 years ago. No major upsets in the NFL games on Sunday – with the exception of New Orleans losing to Philadelphia, Pittsburgh losing again – to Buffalo this time, wow, Buffalo in first place in AFC East And I don’t have to burn my ‘Hawks jerseys after all – they stomped all over the Jets 40 - 3. The ‘Hawks are playing the team with no name next week (WFT) – hopefully they can pull that one off London, Ontario just went into the ‘Red – Restricted’ health level for Covid-19 – the number of cases has risen dramatically since the beginning of September – at this rate we will probably be in ‘Grey – Lockdown’ by next week, just in time for Christmas But hopefully the Pfizer Vaccine will kick in and we might get back to normal by this time next year. Got to go back to work … Have a great and safe week … we will see you in a bit!!
