Dog Days of Summer Second Week of September …

pig without sticks
quich and corn on the cob
brat and sauerkraut
polish paella

I am back to full time, but still hard to get back into work-mode – but still a little stressed. Update on the new home office – only took 5 retries to get the drawers built properly, office is now 100% complete.  Dougie the Doggie is still shedding – we find ‘Pieces of Doug’ everywhere. Vacuum the house – two hours later it’s like it was never done. Weather has been pretty steady lately, usually pretty cool at night about 20 degrees during the day. Had lots of rain during the week, wasn’t able to level the weeds until Friday (grass is pretty non-existent after long dry summer). Saturday was nice weather – we had Canada’s only scheduled air show in town this weekend. As we are near the airport we got to see lots of the aircraft practice. Of course Sunday morning was rained out – so no golf, again ☹     Tonight we are having a weird pasta dish made from Stuffed Green Peppers left-overs. Take the filling from a giant stuffed pepper, add a little tomato sauce, mix with pasta and top with cheese. It might look strange, but I bet will be good 😊. Last week was a mixture of BBQ – steaks, burgers, and brats – and left-over quiche (with corn on the cob) and about 4 pounds of Polish Paella (chicken, shrimp, and kielbasa instead of chorizo). Kelly and I started watching the Spanish series  ‘Cable Girls’  - we’ve only done about 4 episodes – Kelly is not really a fan, so we’ll probably look for something else. But we did re-watch all the ‘Shrek’ movies over the weekend – it never gets old 😊. I finished  watching both seasons of ‘Wild District’ – excellent - I can’t wait for Season 3. I started watching ‘La Reina Del Sur’  (in Spanish) on Netflix – it was kind of confusing at first, we had watched the first episode of ‘Queen of the South’ last year and didn’t really like it. Turns out ‘Queen of  the South’ (2016 – 4 seasons) was the American remake (in English) of Season 1  (2011 – 63 episodes) of ‘La Reina Del Sur’ – no comparison, the Spanish original is the better one. And, the title character is played by Kate De Castilla, who was the lead in ‘Ingobernable’. And, two of the main characters from ‘Wild District’ had small parts in ‘LRDS’. And, a large part of Season 1 takes place in Melilla, Spain (North Africa) which was the setting for ‘Morocco, Love In the Time of War’ – whose lead actress was also the lead in ‘Gran Hotel’. Apparently there’s not a lot of mainstream Spanish actors, they keep cropping up in multiple series!! 😊 I was right about the final of the PGA Tour Championship last week – Dustin Johnson w0n that big time – for a prize of $15 million U.S. Mackenzie Hughes came in 14th – for a prize of $620 thousand U.S. Have a great and safe week … we will see you in a bit!!
