A Little This … A Little That … Fourth Week of June …

Roast Pork Tortillas and Bean Salsa
Smoked Meat Perogies 3
Veal Stroganoff and Penne 5
Bacon Wrapped Chicken and Asparagus 2

Hot during the day and cool at night – perfect summer weather last week. It’s nice to sit outside on the balcony at noontime and have cold cuts for lunch. The past week supper was a mixture of old favorites  and a couple of new ones; Monday, Chile with Cheese, Sour Cream and Toast; Tuesday Lamb Kheema with Rice; Wednesday, Smoked Meat, Cheese and Potato Perogies; Thursday, Bacon Wrapped Chicken (the easiest dish you will ever make – use a brown sugar spice rub on the chicken, wrap it in two pieces of bacon, and stick in the oven for 30 minutes); Friday, Kelly made Roast Pork with Tortillas and Black Bean Salsa; Saturday, Veal Stroganoff with Penne; and Sunday Kelly is making BBQed burgers and fries. This week I am going to try different dishes such as Shrimp Carbonara and Mediterranean Cod. On Netflix I started and finished  two Danish series ‘Hjordis’ – which was an offshoot of ‘Rita’ – and ‘Warrior’ – which is a mixture of police drama and ‘Sons of Anarchy’. Kelly and I have continued watching ‘Frankie and Grace’  - one season down, five more to go. I started watching ‘Surviving Escobar’ – the story of J.J. Velasquez, Escobar’s right-hand man – first episode was good, 59 more to go. I get a kick out of watching drug cartel series. On Saturday we did another road trip through Southern Ontario – this time went north on Highway 4;  up through Lucan, then through Exeter, Hensall, Clinton,  Goderich and then down highway 21 (Bluewater highway along Lake Huron) to Bayfield – where we walked around the town and shops – wow, they actually had public washrooms available, which you don’t see in these COVID times – and then back home to London – a 3.5 hour drive altogether 😊  Next week we might try north of London – St. Marys, Stratford, etc. next week. Until then, have a great and safe week … we will see you in a bit!!
