We are at the end of February … almost. Time to check back on New Year’s Resolutions and see how I’m doing. Stop drinking beer … check. Only drink water … check. Cut down on snack foods to try and lose weight … well, close – but a lot less than what I was eating (Sorry, Little Debbie (cookies and cakes) we had to break up!! 😊 ). Get more exercise to try to lose weight … check – thanks Doug the Dog … walk two miles a day with me flying behind you like a kite … it works. Try on my vacation shirts that didn’t’ fit any more … check, check, and more check!! They fit again!! Weighed my self today and I’ve lost 16 pounds!! Buy snacks for Doug the Dog for helping me lose weight … check 😊 We are almost out of the cold snap … almost. This week it will be going up to 7 C on Tuesday – throw in some snow, turning to rain, freezing back up … a real mess ☹ But before then we are starting to thaw out … almost. This morning at 7 am the temperature was – 21 C – without the wind chill. By noon it was up to -4 C … almost spring like 😊 The stay-at-home order came to an end here in Ontario last Tuesday (except Toronto and North Bay, they want to extend until the 9th of March) – the numbers went back up a little, but hopefully people will still respect the distancing measure so that we don’t experience a third wave 😊 Okay, on to food … Kelly made some Chicken Chile … excellent … we had leftover Hungarian Meatballs with mashed potatoes … I used the Vitamix to make some salsas and soups … only takes about 10 seconds to blend the salsas and 8 minutes to blend and heat up the soup (yes, the blender actually heats up the soup to steaming 😊). I made Chicken Enchiladas with Salsa Morito (my own invention) yesterday and I’ll be doing a Beef Rendang this afternoon. The Vitamix really takes a lot of time out of the preparation. I bought some frozen fruit and yoghurt today – I’ll be testing out making smoothies and ice cream later this week – all non-fattening of course!! 😊 Kelly and I finished Season 2 of ‘Longmire’ last night – we like it, but it’s kind of hit and miss with the episodes; some are really good; some don’t make sense; and some are, uh, mehhh. I binge watched ‘La Mante’ this week – it’s a French police serial killer series on Netflix. It’s not bad, it’s kind of a ‘Silence of the Lambs’ remake – but in France, and with a female serial killer in prison that’s helping her son (who is a cop) investigate a new copycat serial killer. I know I said that I wasn’t going to watch any more French mystery / police / dramas etc. on Netflix as they were pretty bad / unbelievable – I should have stuck to that – from now on only French romance / comedies – they are best at doing that 😊 There was one PGA event this past week – The Genesis Invitational (which is kind of cool – Kelly drives a Genesis) – three out of four Canadians made the cut – the tournament was delayed because of bad weather, it’s still ongoing. Nick Taylor and Mackenzie Hughes are doing not too bad, both in top 20 now. Got to go and make the Rendang – it takes about 5 hours!! Have a great and safe week … we will see you in a bit!!
