It’s been two months since the movers emptied the house on Frederick Crescent and moved halve our stuff to Sparta Line in the country. … And then spent the next 9 days at ‘The Bates Motel’. The house has come a long way … 95% of the renovation complete … new roof … new eavestroughs … fenced in area for Doug the Dog … lots of landscaping, tractoring and chainsawing, etc. Most of the boxes have been unloaded (about 110 boxes) … we’re still sorting out where some items go, building furniture, etc. It’s been a long haul  but we’re finally getting there. Kelly and her sister did a lot of painting outdoors on Sunday … our last major piece of work is getting the contractors to finish the soffit  on the new patio roof extension (if it doesn’t get done this week it will probably have to wait until  spring ☹ ). It’s nice and quiet out here … although a little noisy last week as the corn was being harvested in the fields around us. It took Cousin Jeff (the owner of  the fields - about 120 acres) three days to harvest. The weather has started to turn cold … and wet, very wet … so winter and snow are probably just around the corner. Cleaned up the yard with the John Deere and sweeper … 50 wheelbarrow loads of leaves to the dumpster, trimmed as many weeds and tree branches as possible … so almost time to remove the lawnmower attachment and replace it with the snow plow attachment and chains for winter. A couple of days ago jets made interesting contrails in  the sky (picture at left) ...This morning three deer showed up outside our backyard … Kelly put up bird feeders out back - we see lots of blue jays and cardinals now ... out walking with Doug the Dog saw three groups of about three hundred swallows flying overhead … life in the country 😊 . We have had Doug the Dog for fifteen months now … we think he likes it here 😊 For the first year he never barked … now he barks all the time when someone new shows up. He’s getting his ‘Country Dog / Guard Dog’ on 😊. He likes his long walks (twice a day) up and down the country roads … he spends hours at a time outside in his new fenced in enclosure in the back yard … just lying there … or running around like a crazed maniac when we play fetch 😊 Getting back to cooking different meals every night …  over the last week we’ve had Mediterranean Chicken; Pork Chops with Mushroom Gravy and  Roast Potatoes; Mexican Stuffed Peppers; Pork and Lima Bean Casserole; Pork Burritos; Beef Rendang; and last night Spicy Chicken with Bok Choy and Noodles. It's kind of cool - when I'm looking for a recipe to make for supper I can usually find it here on my website!! On the Netflix front I binge watched four short series in … Norwegian -‘Post-Mortem’; Danish - ‘The Chestnut Man’ ; French – ‘Family Business’, and a really bad ‘Ganglands’. I just started a Spanish series – ‘Jaguar’ that looks interesting.  Kelly and I started watching ‘The Big C’ – a drama / comedy series about a woman dealing with stage 4 cancer that was on from 2020 to 2013 – it is very,  very good😊  On to golf …  a couple of invitationals on the last two weeks - the CJ Cup that Rory McIlroy won - $1.75M U.S.; and the Zozo Championship in Japan that Hideki Matsuyama won - $1.79M U.S. (Canadian Mackenzie Hughes tied for 4th - $411K U.S.) NFL football is in it’s seventh week … my Seahawks lost again last night … Russell Wilson still injured … with a 2 – 5 record not much  chance that they will make the playoffs this year ☹ … In hockey the regular season has started … Seattle Kraken not off to a good start … Maple Leafs are choking again ☹ Got to go … more leaves to be raked (or burnt, that should prove interesting) … have a great and safe week … we will see you in a bit!!
