Long weekend for Canadian Thanksgiving – cold during the week but a nice balmy 21 degrees C. for the holiday. We just did a little road trip - Dougie the Doggie got to go along for the first time in the car. We went through Belmont; Aylmer; Copenhagen; stopped in Port Bruce for a walk along the pier and beach; west to Port Stanley – walked along the beach, watched the kite surfers – and had hot dogs and fries at Mackies!! ; and back home through Fingal, Shedden, and St. Thomas. Beautiful day for a drive and very exciting for dogs!! Almost 4 hours and he was really, really good 😊 Last night I made a Boeuf Bourguignon with Fresh Pasta – turned out really well. Last week was a mixture again – leftovers, old favorites and new dishes. Chinese Chicken Curry, Moroccan Lamb with Chickpeas; Mexican Chili; Lima Bean and Pork Casserole; etc. . Steaks on the BBQ with baked potato and baked beans tonight – the usual Thanksgiving stuff 😊; Kelly and I finished watching Season 1 of ‘Emily In Paris’ – it’s not too bad. We started watching ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’ - it’s done along the lines of ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ from last year – it has the same cast and is a loose adaptation of Henry James ‘The Turn of the Screw’. I finished watching Season 2 of ‘La Reina Del Sur’ on Netflix – all sixty episodes – they tied up most of the loose ends and I really enjoyed it 😊 They finished up with a teaser – it looks like Season 3 will start filming in 2021. I started two new series; ‘To The Lake’ – a Russian sci-fi series (8 episodes) about a pandemic virus that kills and infects 100’s of thousands of people, it’s scary considering it was filmed before COVID – and stars Kirill Karo, one of my favorite Russian actors (‘Better Than Us’, ‘The Sniffer’). ‘La Nina’ is the second series – Columbian (83 episodes all shot in 2016!! ) – loosely based on true facts about children being kidnapped by the communist guerilla forces and forced to be soldiers and terrorists against the government. It’s rather scary and heartbreaking following the stories of these children – it’s told in flashbacks from after they were integrated back into society. After having watched several Columbian series on Netflix over the last few months – ‘Narcos’, ‘Wild District’, ‘Pablo Escobar’, ‘Surviving Escobar’, and now ‘La Nina’ – I’m amazed at how the Columbian people have managed to survive and start to flourish after so much violence and corruption. I followed the PGA Tournament Shriners Invitational in Las Vegas = 4 Canadians qualified but only two made the cut - again. Michael Gligic was the top Canadian He ended up in twenty seventh (-14 and in 27th, wow), so a small payday ($48 U.S.) . Have a great and safe week … we will see you in a bit!!
