The COVID numbers have been decreasing fairly quickly – Canada is now number one in the world for the highest percentage of people over 12 with at least one vaccine dose. So Ontario (and some of the other provinces) have started relaxing restrictions – we went to Phase 1 with larger numbers of people being allowed to exercise outside, eat outside at restaurants ( 4 people max to a table), and non-essential stores are allowed to reopen (at 15% capacity). This happened on Friday – it was like a gigantic reopening with everyone swarming the restaurants, parks, etc.. Phase 2 with  even more restrictions relaxed will probably start in a week or so and  if the numbers stay low we might be back to normal by August 😊 . Yesterday we went to check out the new house (we close at the end of July) and brought our contractors along to get an idea of how we are going to renovate it prior to moving in. We threw around some ideas and I think that we are going to be pretty happy with the final outcome 😊 (more on that later as everything comes together).  We came back by way of Port Bruce ( 4 miles away from the new house as the crow flies, or 7 miles if the crow is driving a Ford) and the beach was packed 😊 . The weather has started to cool down a bit – well, low 20’s for the week, but much better than high 30’s with the humidex 😊 Okay, on to food … Last weeks six-pound seven cheese lasagna made for leftovers; steak and burgers made their usual appearance; and on Saturday I broke out my little friend – the Weber Smoky Mountain Smoker 😊 … It’s been a while, but I mixed up my favorite rub and smoked up a chicken, a pork loin, and a beef roast 😊 We had smoked chicken with potato salad and tonight we are going to make smoked Philly cheese sandwiches 😊 . Since we were limited for time yesterday I whipped up two Shrimp, Bacon, Green Pepper, and Onion quiches for supper … mmm, mmm, good😊.  Kelly and I binge watched Season 3 of ‘The Kominsky Method’  on Netflix – it was really good; I think it was the best season yet. We tried watching Season 2 of  ‘Flack’ on Prime – Kelly not a fan, we will have to find something else.– the final season just started. I finally finished ‘The Good Bandit’ on Netflix – it actually turned out pretty good and I enjoyed it – though as it turns out there won’t be a Season 2 ☹. I finally got around to binge watching Season 2 of ‘Who Killed Sara’ – there is so much activity and plot twists that it is a little hard to follow – but the last episode’s last minute still leaves the question – ‘Who Killed Sara’. The show was the most watched foreign series on Netflix ever – if you have a chance give it a try 😊 … Now I need something new to watch … a couple of new Icelandic series will be coming up in a month or so – I need to brush up on the language 😊 The PGA had the  Palmetto Championship this past weekend in Congaree South Carolina– not a lot of big names. Two Canadians made the cut – Nick Taylor tied for 44th, and Roger Sloan tied for 52nd – not great showings, but hey – they got to play golf!! ☹  … And on the PGA Tour Champions American Family Championship – Mike Weir tied for 7th – he’s having a pretty good year on the senior circuit😊 … On to hockey – Montreal swept Winnipeg to go onto the Stanley Cup semi-finals -they will play Vegas Golden Knights for a chance to go to the finals. (I’ve never been a Habs fan so doesn’t get me excited … mehh … whoever wins will have an asterisk beside their name because of a shortened COVID season). Update: Montreal lost the first game. Got to go … have a great and safe week … we will see you in a bit!!
