I took a bit of a break from the blog … it’s been two weeks … we’ve been busy getting packing done and having the contractors doing renovations – planned ones and unplanned The Olympic Games in Tokyo ended on Sunday – Canada had a pretty good run; 24 medals (new record for the country); 7 of them gold – woman’s rowing, cycling, swimming, soccer – men’s track and field (Decathlon and200 meter). All in all a good performance by Canadian athletes. … So three more years until the next summer games in Paris, France. Next on the schedule is the Paralympics in about three weeks time on August 24– Canada will be sending 128 athletes to that. We took possession of the new house almost two weeks ago – it’s in a bit of a mess as the basement has been pretty well gutted - I added a couple of pictures before / during reno, and that's only two rooms. … And we might have to get a new roof; … and new wiring; and a new bathroom; it all adds up pretty quick. …And the movers arrive in two weeks … and then we have to clean up this house for the new owners … time. The time is going by fast … but hopefully we will be settled in by the end of the month Doug the Dog went to the doggie hotel last week for a one nighter … he’s going to have to be at the kennel for three days while we get moved … and he needed to practice being away from us. He seemed to be okay … and relieved when he came home … probably thought he was being given away again. He has one more practice stay over before ‘M’ Day(moving day) … And then we will have to train him on the invisible fence . Ontario should be moving out of Phase 3 this week – that will get rid of almost all the restrictions . … But new COVID cases are increasing in Ontario – so you never know what’s going to happen Okay, on to food … we are still emptying up the two freezers so subsisting on old standards and leftovers; in another week I’ll be making up casseroles and stews, etc. and storing them in disposable containers so that I can pack up the pantry and all the kitchen equipment. Kelly and I watched some of the Olympics, some house hunting episodes, and some game shows to kill any spare time we had left. I finished watching season 2 of ‘Sky Rojo’ – it wasn’t bad, but nowhere as good as the first season – and they left a teaser that will probably result in season 3. I started watching another Columbian telenovela – ‘Snitch Cartel – The Origins’ – it’s based on a novel and a former tv series about the start of the Cali Cartel. It’s supposed to be fictional but it’s loosely based on a real-life account of two brothers and their friends – “The Gentlemen Of Cali” – who became one of the biggest drug cartels in the world. … Even bigger than Pablo Escobar … he was more into violence; they were more into the business side. The show is not bad, but the usual 60-episode telenovela, it spans from 1955 to the early ‘90’s, … but after 27 episodes they changed the whole cast!! Same characters, but different actors – it took me 3 episodes to figure out who was who!! On the plus side the actor who plays the elder brother Fernando in the first half– Juan Pablo Urrego – played in another telenovela (74 episodes), ‘Surviving Escobar’, as Jhon Jairo Velasquez – Pablo Escobar’s right-hand man who ends up in jail for 22 years – where the Cali Cartel keep trying to kill him off!! Irony … it’s so ironic!! Anyways, my education on Columbian, Mexican, and Spanish cartels is almost complete On to golf … Connors and Hughes didn’t do all that great at the Olympics; Connors didn’t do all that well at the World Championship either; The Barracuda Championship was the last chance for golfers to get Fedex points in order to qualify for the Fedex Playoffs - only the top 125 start Roger Sloan, Michael Gligic, and Nick Taylor didn’t do well enough to get in. Adam Hadwin didn’t make the cut but will be able to sneak in as he is in the 112th spot. Got to go … do some work, pack more boxes … have a great and safe week … we will see you in a bit!!
