Well it’s here … the start of a new year … and started off with a bang – literally – in Nashville … And the weather – lots of snow, I’ve shovelled out the driveway more times last week than I had to last winter. … And the pandemic – we are still in lockdown for another couple of weeks at least – I only go out (apart from dog walks) once a week to top up on groceries – we are averaging about 150 new cases a day here in London (population 400k) … and the local hospital has had to bring in trailers to use as temporary morgues … And in Quebec (where I grew up) they have just announced a curfew for the population – the virus is out of control there … And that craziness in Washington yesterday – I won’t rant on politics, just bring in the 25th Amendment, there was no call for that Hopefully things will quiet down after Biden’s inauguration (without any incidents) on the 20th January. On a brighter note … Doug the Dog is having a blast in the snow - that's him taking Kelly out for a walk. I started my New Year’s resolutions – a couple new languages to learn (go to my language page ... there are still some good deals on the Babbel and Innovative links if you want to learn a new language )… cut down on beer drinking in order to lose weight – if we can cruise next November my resolution is to be able to fit in my fancy dinner shirts (which Zeke the Dog bought me for Christmas over the past 5 or 6 years) , for some reason none of them fit any more We had lots of leftovers over the past week … Tourtiere, Smoked Beef Chili, Smoked Pork Casserole … made a couple of easy dishes – Chicken Curry and Homemade Perogies (from scratch) and tonight we are doing burgers – with one for Doug the Dog of course I’m still watching ‘All For Love’ on Netflix – it’s not bad, but at 69 episodes – and I’ve only watched 25 so far – it makes you wonder how they can keep coming up with so many plot twists Kelly and I have been watching ‘Yellowstone’ – modern political / cowboy duster in Montana - on Prime – I didn’t like it at first, but it’s growing on me. A bit of a sleeper, it’s been on for 3 years and I never heard of it until now . I’ve watched a couple of episodes of Monarca – it’s pretty good, starts from where it left off last season. PGA Golf is back – ‘The Sentry Tournament of Champions’ in Hawaii – it’s usually just the pros who have won a tournament in the last year, but this year they have allowed Fedex finalists to enter – the field this year is 42 (huh, there’s a magic number) including two Canadians, Nick Taylor and Mackenzie Hughes. Well the NFL regular season is over – some surprises, Miami didn’t make it, Chicago and Cleveland did. And my ‘Hawks won their last game – not that it made any difference in the standings, they ended up 3rd seed, so they will play the Rams (again) this Saturday in the wildcard round. Hopefully they can win that – they are at home and the Rams lost their main quarterback . Have a great and safe week … we will see you in a bit!!
