Okay … I’ve been remiss … nothing posted for the last 3 weeks … but there’s a reason … actually a few. I had an adverse reaction to medication – nothing serious but definitely mind altering, the sky is such a pretty colour; been trying out a lot of comfort food recipes from years ago; and we were pet hunting!! I hadn’t planned on getting a new dog for another six  months or so after Zeke passed away ten weeks ago – but I made the mistake of looking at pet adoption web pages, and there are so many dogs and cats that need a home – and so many sad stories that go with them – that we decided to try and get one. I say try – because it seems harder to adopt a pet (and much more paperwork) than it is to adopt a child these days. And they go so fast – picture up one day and down the next – as long as they are young and cute. The older ones – three years old and up – are up for a lot longer, and in some cases never get adopted ☹ So two weeks ago we saw a dog we liked – named Dougie – up on one of the websites. A black lab / shepherd cross about 3 years old and around 75 pounds. So we applied – and the next day he was marked as unavailable ☹ Crap ☹ A week later we got a call asking if we were still interested in Dougie. Well, yeah!! So we were interviewed over the phone, and three days later Dougie came over to do a lab test. We liked him, but he still had another lab test to conduct at another home ☹ But the next day, Friday, we got the test results back – positive!! Yayy!! And last Saturday Dougie was dropped off at our home 😊 He’s very quiet, doesn’t bark (has a weird high-pitched squeak, though ), is good on wood floors, and isn’t disturbed by thunder / lightening. But he is very prey aware (runs after every bird / squirrel that he sees) and is very skittish around men … not women and children, just men. Runs away when I get too near him … but he’s getting better. And he’s fast … very, very fast. Take a look at Dougie and the Dumbass for an example. Thankfully, he is getting used to being here … and when we go out … doesn’t touch a thing 😊 Lasagna’s another story. It’s been very hot and muggy  the last few weeks – air conditioner on most of the time. I went golfing for the second time this year – great first 9 holes, cooling breeze … and then rained out on the 10th ☹ Not just rain, but thunder / lightening /  and heavy hail forecast ☹ Got completely soaked and walking out to the car the cell phone rang … ‘This is a Tornado warning for your cellular district’ … Tornadoes … really ☹ And driving back to London we could see the storm clouds ahead of us … and the tornados actually touched down in 4 places around London … Belmont for the second time in 4 weeks … Belmont is about 5 miles from where we live ☹ Luckily, no injuries but a lot of storm damage. Oh, yeah … going golfing for the third time this coming Sunday … at the same place with our rain check … and the forecast is for possibly storms again and tornados ☹ With my luck I’ll get a hole in one … the tornado will hit … and suck the ball back out of the hole.  This weekend is the Civic Holiday … Monday being the holiday. I think Kelly and her sister are going to the beach in Port Stanley tomorrow –  I’ll stay home with Doug and teach him how to cook. Tonight is left-over lasagna – only two big pieces left – so we will have to be careful 😊Over the last three weeks we’ve cooked something different almost every night – except for left over nights. We have had comfort food like Italian sausages with tomato sauce and mashed; pasta with ground veal, bacon, peppers and cheese; three different (maybe four) types of curry – Mango Chicken, Beef and Potato, Green Thai Curry; fresh pasta and homemade meatballs; Mediterranean Chicken with Olives and Tomatoes; Veal Scaloppini with Green Pepper Sauce; the list goes on and on – I usually post what we are having for dinner on Facebook. On Netflix Kelly and I have continued watching ‘Frankie and Grace’  - we are on the last season now, have to wait for their final season starting in September. I ‘ve finally completed ‘Surviving Escobar’ – all 60 episodes 😊 There is supposed to be a Season 2 but it’s not on Netflix yet. I think with all the shows I’ve watched about drug cartels (and places I have visited) I could do a doctoral dissertation 😊 I watched a new polish series based on a  Harlen Coben book – ‘The Woods’ – I don’t normally like Coben’s books made into Netflix series – but this one was fairly good – and there might even be a Season 2 next year. To get away from all the drugs and violence I started watching ‘Bonus Family’ – a decent Swedish dramedy that’s kind of a cross between ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Grace and Frankie’  - but in my mind even better (and I get to practice Swedish) – one season down, two to go. Oh, ‘Good Girls’ Season 3 just started on Sunday – Kelly and I will watch that when ‘Grace and Frankie’ is over 😊 Oh, got to go … Doug wants to take me out for a walk 😊 I’ll update this coming Monday. Until then, have a great and safe week … we will see you in a bit!!
