Baked Lasagna 1

Ingredients

My Italian Meat Sauce Recipe 

(without mushrooms and green pepper)

My Italian Pasta Recipe

(cut into Lasagna strips)

 

Lasagna Cheese Filling

2 Large Eggs

16 oz. Ricotta Cheese

(tub or bag)

4 oz. Shredded Mozzarella

2 oz. Grated Parmesan

2 tsp. Freshly chopped Basil leaves

1 tsp. Salt

1 tsp. Black Pepper

8 slices Monterey Jack (optional)

 

Lasagna Topping

2 oz. Shredded Mozzarella

2 oz. Shredded 4 Cheese Italian

Passata (strained tomato sauce) (optional)

Instructions:

·         Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

·         In a large bowl:

o   Break up the ricotta with a wooden spoon

o   Mix in the mozzarella, parmesan, and basil

o   Add the eggs, salt and pepper

o    Mix all ingredients well

o   Cover and refrigerate until needed (this can be prepared ahead of time)

·         In a large rectangular baking dish:

o   Put a layer of noodles along the bottom

o   Cover the noodles with a little of the meat sauce

o   Cover the meat sauce with an even layer of the cheese filling

o   (optional) Place 4 slices of the Monterey Jack on top of the cheese

o   Repeat layering

o   Add 1 more layer of meat sauce and cover with noodles

o   Sprinkle the cheese topping over the lasagna, adding streaks of passata if desired

·         Bake in center of oven 30 to 35 minutes until sauce is bubbling around the edges.

·          Let stand 30 minutes before serving.

The Lasagna is even better if served the next day
